About this event

Date: Thursday 23rd November 2023
Time: 10.00 – 12:00
Format: Online via Teams

Equality impact assessments (EIA) are a tool to help universities ensure that their policies, practices and decisions are fair, meet the needs of their staff and students and that they are not inadvertently discriminating against any protected group.

Following an ALN EDI Action Group meeting we felt that this was an area of growth and interest for our community and that more learning in this area would be helpful and beneficial.

A number of institutions are slowly beginning to introduce EIAs into their practice when implementing new services or policies, or when reviewing existing ones, and it would be great to hear more about the experiences and practical aspects of EIAs and putting these into place.

We’re seeking contributions from anyone involved in the planning, writing, or implementation of Equality Impact Assessments for their Institution. The event format will be a series of short 10 minute presentations, with time for questions. If you have an idea for a presentation or would like to discuss a possible contribution, please contact us – we invite brief proposals to be submitted before Friday 29th September 2023.  Please get in touch with us via academiclibrariesnorth@sconul.ac.uk.
